My Unexpected Weekend In Tarkarli : A Beach, a Bike, and a Break I Didn't Know I Needed

My Unexpected Weekend in Tarkarli : A Beach, a Bike, and a Break i didn't Know i Needed

Last month, i randomly agreed to a weekend trip to Tarkarli with my 3 friends. No big planning, no itineraly, not even hotel bookings. Just a group chat, a bike, and a shared feeling that we needed to get out of the city.

We left early morning from Kolhapur, two bikes, light bags, and heavy eyes. The roads were surprisigly smooth, with patches of green & small villages passing by like movie scenes. Somewhere between tea breaks and petrol pumps, the mood shifted we were already starting to feel lighter.

Then finally we reached Tarkarli by noon, it was warmer than we expected, but the breeze from the beach made up for it. After asking around, we found a small homestay nothing fancy, juts clean rooms and kind aunty who immediately offered us nimbu pani. Honestly that chilled glass was the best part of my day at that moment.

Tarkarli Beach was just a 5 minute walk from the stay. I remember standing there for a few seconds, just staring at the sea wide, calm, and almost empty. No crowds, no vendors shouting. Just the sound of waves and a few kins playing in the distance. We didn't do much the first day. Just sat there till sunset, clicked some silly photos, had bhurji-pav and chai from a roadside stall, and came back to our room we just tired but realy happy.

The next day, we went from snorkeling near Sindhudurg Fort. I wasn't very excited at first not a water person but my friends pushed me into it. I'm glad they did. Seeing fish swim past me in Crystal-Clear water was something I'll never forget. I didn't even know places like this exited in Maharashtra.

Lunch was a proper Malvani thali fresh fish curry, sol kadhi, and fried bangada. I'm a vegetarian so i didn't it but i eat something veg, but still this one hit different. Maybe it was the sea breeze. We spend the evening riding along the coast, with mo destination in mind. One small beech led to another, and we ended up sitting near Devbagh watching boats return for the day.

In the end Tarkarli wasn't on my list but it's on my mind evry time i feel stuck.
