Waves, Wanderlust & Unplanned Joy : My Soulful Goa Escape
My Goa trip was the kind of escape I didn’t know I needed until I was actually living it just me and my three closest friends, fed up with routine, craving something real. We booked train tickets on a whim, packed whatever we could at the last minute, and hopped aboard with bags full of snacks, speakers, and chaos. The overnight train journey was an adventure in itself we barely slept, choosing instead to talk endlessly, play cards, and stare out the window as the world blurred by. When we finally arrived in Goa, the air hit differently humid, warm, salty, and strangely calming.
We stayed in a colorful homestay near Calangute, where the mornings began with birds chirping and the smell of sea breeze sneaking through the windows. Our days were filled with long scooter rides through narrow village roads lined with palm trees and Portuguese-style houses. We explored Baga’s crowded energy, Anjuna’s flea markets and beach cafes, and Morjim’s peaceful stretch of sand where time seemed to slow down. We hiked to Chapora Fort just in time to watch the sunset bleed into the ocean a moment that felt like a movie scene.
Every night felt alive we’d grab dinner at beachside shacks with music, fairy lights, and sand beneath our feet, then end up sitting on the shore talking about life and love while the waves played background music. I stuck to vegetarian food and still had the time of my life from spicy xacuti curry to fresh poi bread and kokum juice that felt like a sip of coastal comfort.
My friends, hardcore seafood lovers, couldn’t stop raving about the fish thalis and Goan prawn curry. We didn’t follow any itinerary we just flowed with the vibe, got tanned, got lost, and found ourselves laughing more than we had in months. On our last morning, we woke up early and sat silently on the beach, feet buried in the cool sand, trying to memorize the sound of the waves, the peace in our hearts, and the magic of Goa. It wasn’t just a trip it was a reset, a reminder of freedom, connection, and how beautiful life can feel when you let go and just live the moment.
